We did it!!!!

That's right folks, Rachel and I competed in our first triathlon! Our goal-just finish! Well we did even better than that-we finished SMILING! It was a great day for a race, not to hot and the humidity was hardly noticeable.

Here we are trying to smile nicely for the camera as we chew on some energy boosting fruit snacks.....not the most pleasant tasting things in the world.I am pretty sure our husbands were shocked with our canoeing skills! We had a very smooth push off, a nice take out and no issues on the water. They were sure we would end up in the water at some point! Sorry to disappoint you guys, we did great!
3.5 miles down.....
From the water we made our way to the bike for a 16 mile ride. It was a very nice ride through the the Ohio countryside! After the bike we hit the pavement for a 4 mile run! Besides "just finishing" our other goal was to try and finish in under 3 hours....and WE DID! I wonder what time we could have gotten if we would have actually put some time and effort into preparing for this?!Check out those happy ladies! You would never guess that they just canoed 3.5 miles, biked 16 miles and ran 4 miles! (the energy gel hadn't worn off yet)

A child's dream come true, all the ice cream you can think of right outside of your front door!Yep, that's right! We stayed at the Dairy King restaurant and motel. If you look closely you can see the only window our room had right behind the menu board! Luckily in a small town they close early and open late so we really didn't notice we were sleeping in the drive-thru lane.
Now some of you may know my love of Dairy Queen treats, (seriously I think DQ was one of my first words) so when Rachel found this place we just had to check it out! It truly was a hometown version of the tradition DQ chain. This just added enjoyment and laughter to our adventure!

Great job! It does look like you had a good time! Pat yourself on the back!! And did you eat any ice cream at the Dairy King so you could compare it to your beloved Dairy Queen?
