Baby Brody is finally here!!!
It's been a long road but, we finally have our newest little guy here!

We arrived at the hospital at 6 am as they requested, only to be told that we probably arrived too early. We had just called in at 5 am to confirm. Tuesdays and Thursdays are their scheduled c section days at this base, and we were scheduled to be number two of the day. Well, number one was late getting there. Then, someone scheduled for Thursday came in, in early labor, and since I wasn't in labor, she got to go first. Finally, just after noon we were told it was our turn! Thank goodness because I was SOOO done! Since there was the possibility that I could be "put under," I hadn't been allowed to eat or drink anything since the night before at 10:30. Not even ice chips, I was super excited to meet Mr. Brody, but I was also ready for some food! The anesthesiologist came in to go over a few final details before walking me back to the operating room. This anesthesiologist was great! We had met with a different one the day before to fill out all the paperwork and go over everything in great detail and she sent me home a nervous wreck! We later found out that the anesthesiologist that was actually there for my c section was the department head. No wonder he had no issues and was very confident that he would have no problem getting a spinal to take. He was the most experienced one there! Such a blessing! Once I was back there and my spinal had kicked in, they brought Josh into the operating room. Then we just waited for the surgeons to do their thing! There was A LOT of pulling and tugging and pushing. First time in three c sections that I have ever felt a thing! The anesthesiologist kept us updated on what the surgeons were doing and told us right before Brody was pulled out. Then, Brody let us know right away that he was out---and screaming! Josh was allowed to walk around and get a closer look at Brody as they cleaned him up a little and did their initial Apgar evaluation (8 then 9). Then, Josh accompanied Brody to the nursery for a bath and more measurements. I got to hang out in the OR getting stitched back up and then headed to the recovery area. Once there, I was told I would have to stay there at least 1 hour, be able to move my legs, and sit up. I asked to sit up before we left the OR and my legs were moving within 15 min. After that, the anesthesiologist came back in and said as soon as they finished up my paper work I was able to go back to my room to hold little Brody. We spent just over 48 hours in the hospital after delivery. Josh and I were both itching to get home, get settled, and introduce Brody to Zachary and Molly.
As a quick thought before heading off to the hospital, I snapped one more baby belly picture. Funny thing is, I really didn't feel huge at any point during this pregnancy. Don't get me wrong I felt 9 months pregnant but, this was probably my smallest pregnancy yet. It never crossed my mind that I was carrying an eight and a half pound baby in there! Then of course, I can't help but think when I am holding Brody--How in the world did he fit in there?!

Thankfully, we can all now hold him in our arms! We are truly blessed to have him in our little family!
