Christmas festivities

Our December felt just as busy as last year and last year we moved states! Next year we are not traveling in the month of December. It will be the baby's first holiday and Josh will most likely be in the middle of a deployment, so we have every reason to just stay put next year!

With our trip to Oregon, Zachary got back just in time for his pre school Christmas party! They wore pjs, watched Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer, made cookies, wrote letters to Santa, and then they got to read their letters to Santa! This was our only Santa visit this year.

The same night we flew back to Nevada so did Uncle JJ. His flight arrived about an hour before ours, so he just waited and we all headed home together. We have been very blessed to see Uncle JJ so much this year. The kids especially love all the extra time they have gotten with him! He was coming down to celebrate Christmas with us and since Josh had to work on Christmas we celebrated a few days early. Between getting home late on Tuesday night and Saturday we had Zach's school party, a simple birthday celebration with the Harter family, an overnight visit and Christmas celebration with the Lewis family and cleaned the house while preparing for the arrival of Santa and Gram's and Grandpa on Saturday night!

The kids had a blast on Christmas morning! Zachary was thrilled that Santa did in fact bring the only thing he asked for. It was pretty easy this year. Zachary has now added Edward to his Thomas the Train collection. Molly Jayne was a bit more of a challenge because she had no idea what the whole Santa thing was really about. That was totally my fault. With all our traveling and guests since Halloween, we did not spend any much time talking about Christmas this year. It all worked out because she just tore through the gifts. I think she would have been thrilled just opening and re- opening wrapped packages all day!

Josh got a new blender and we had to try it out right away! It was very impressive!!! Smoothie on Molly Jayne's face from her hair line to her chin was her stamp of approval!

Uncle JJ's only request was that Grams make some of her sugar cookies. No matter how hard we try, we just can't make them like she does! The kids quickly discovered that if they "helped" they could easily help themselves to the dough in the process!

Now for the photos....
On the morning of the 25th, Zachary woke up feeling pretty cruddy. It was the first of several long days of him not feeling well. We forgot all about getting a family picture in front of the tree on our Christmas morning so, we tried it a few days later. With Zachary not feeling well, he wasn't very interested in looking or smiling at the camera. Oh, well we tried! Guess, we'll hope for a better family Christmas photo in 2 years.
