Helldorado Day

On Saturday Amanda and I loaded up our double strollers and took all 5 kids to Helldorado Days (sponsored by the Las Vegas Elks Lodge) in old downtown Las Vegas. It was military appreciation day, so Horses4Heroes was providing free rides for the kids all afternoon. We got there just as they were starting and all of the kids (that wanted to) got to enjoy a pony ride!
Kylie and Reagan had so much fun, they rode twice!
Molly Jayne was so excited she couldn't wait to get on a pony, until I put her on it! Then she couldn't get off fast enough!
Zachary, didn't even try the pony rides. When it was his turn, he climbed back into his seat in the stroller and buckled himself in! But, as soon as he spotted these guys I couldn't get him out fast enough!
Molly did her best to stay nice and cool in the shade but our poor kids really aren't fans to the heat.
Amanda and I took the kids over to look at some of the animals that would be in the rodeo later that evening. Reagan really wanted to touch one of the bulls. They looked friendly enough, but those fences weren't all that sturdy so we didn't stick around too long. Little Miss Kennedy seemed to think the bulls were hilarious, she just kept looking and laughing, looking and laughing!

They were also offering free carriage rides! The kids all enjoyed that, to bad the ride wasn't very long ;(

Josh was on day shift, so after we all enjoyed a nice cool treat we headed home to pick him up before heading to dinner and the rodeo that evening. We tried out one of the MANY "new to us" restaurants around here, Firehouse Subs! There were three things that have me SOLD on this place. They give every kid a fire hat, its a Sub Shop (and if you know me you know my LOVE for sub sandwiches!) and they have one of the coolest soda machines ever! I seriously should have taken a picture of it (guess I will have to go back)!
After dinner we headed back down to the rodeo grounds! The kids were EXHAUSTED, Zach & Molly didn't sleep a wink that afternoon, but they were in great moods and we never had a melt down so it wasn't so bad.
We didn't stay for much of the rodeo, Josh had to work on Sunday which means he would be getting up around 5 am. What we did see we enjoyed! Guess we'll have to check it out again next year!

Funny side story from the day---As we were getting ready to leave to go get Josh, we were all walking out and the gate guards were trying to stamp all our hands. I asked if the stamps got washed off would our ticket stubs be enough to get us back in later that evening. The sweet grandma lady looked at me and replied, "Oh, honey don't you worry there is no way I will miss you two ladies with your double strollers!" Only at a military event would you see two moms with all their kids and no dads around to help!
