Ya Gotta have FAITH

In a recent lesson at church we were asked how do we define having faith. A few people shared their personal views while I sat in the back and just started pondering the thought and trying to figure out just how I would define it. The thought has stayed with me for quiet a while now and it has made me realize that we are currently living on faith. You see we are 14 days away from finding out our "fate" in the Air Force. We get up every morning and go to bed every night knowing that we have no control over what happens next, yet we are ok with that---thats faith. There is no concern that we'll be crushed or dishearten with what the "big screen" will reveal to us. We have faith that what assignment we get is meant for us and it will take us on a journey that is meant for us! We will get to meet new people, live in new places and experience things,  that will prepare us for times that we can not even comprehend in the future.

We have absolute faith that what happens next will be meant to be.

And for now we just wait, and wait, and wait some more! If I didn't know better I would say the waiting is killing me slowly, one hour at a time! Friday August 26th at 5pm can not get here fast enough! This is the night I have been waiting for since we arrived in Columbus last July! Its assignment night, where all the members of class 11-14 will find out what their future in the Air Force holds! There is a bit of a show/ceremony that happens as the flight commanders call each member up individually, "roast" them for a minute or two and then everyone in the room goes silent in anticipation of what the "big screen" will display, they play some "theme" music for the individual, the student pilot turns around to face the screen, and the second feel like minutes and hours! Then in the blink of an eye the whole room cheers in unison as an aircraft flies across the projector screen!

Our dream sheet (Josh's rack and stack of every possible aircraft and base in the Air Force) has been turned in, the drop (list of possible assignments) should be in the commanders hand by now and he will do his best to get the 8 guys in Josh's T-38 class the aircraft of their dreams....Now we keep praying, keep holding on to our faith and try and find all kinds of other things to distract us until our moment arrives!

Oh, and for those of you who might be wondering what Josh wants---all Fighters and Bombers are at the top, followed by ANY assignment to Elmendorf, followed by some tankers and heavy's and then several other assignments.
