In Las Vegas, the two best seasons hands down are spring and fall! We have cool nights and breezy days.
The sky is clear and blue and we all love spending time outside! We
even "get" to wear jeans for a few days! Notice I said "get," after 18
months here, I now consider it a privilege to be able to wear jeans. If
it's not going to be over 90 that day, jeans is totally doable! Hahahaha!
We
took advantage of the first beautiful Saturday Josh has had off in a
while and we headed to the pumpkin patch! We went to the same orchard as
last year and knew that our first priority was not getting pumpkins, but
enjoying some of the apple cider donuts! Once we all enjoyed a few of
the treats, we walked out to the pumpkins. We decided we would be
getting three pumpkins this year, and Zachary had them all picked out
within a few minutes of getting to the field. We paused for a few photos,
loaded the pumpkins into the stroller, and were ready to head home. It
wasn't very crowded that early, so it was quick, easy and not too muddy!

This
is our first year actually carving a pumpkin! I know I am a horrible
mom right?! To be honest, if Zachary hadn't been asking to make a
Jack-o-Lantern, I would have just had the kids paint the pumpkins again.
We have had the pumpkins for a week and Zachary has asked every day when
is it time to carve the pumpkins? So on Josh's next day off, he tackled
the project with the kids! They had a great time watching and helping a
little bit. Once Josh opened the pumpkin Zach wasn't so thrilled, until
it was time to do the actual carving part that is. The kids were very
excited once it was finally dark so we we could put a candle in the
pumpkin. According to Zach, it wasn't a real Jack-o-Lantern until it had
the candle lit inside!
Another
favorite pastime this time of year is getting out and enjoying our fire
pit. But, you can't have a fire without a few s'mores right?!
