Well,
when you have your first day of preschool when you are 2 yrs. old, the
third year isn't such a big deal. But, we are all thrilled this will be
his last year in preschool and that next year he'll head off to
kindergarten! The kid cannot wait to go to a "real school," as he called
it. For some reason on Sunday, two days before Zachary was set to start
school, he came home from church and announced that he was going to the
school down the street from us (we have two elementary schools down the
block). We tried explaining to him that he wasn't quite old
enough to go to those schools until next year. I thought we had an
understanding but, on the way to his preschool, he again asked if he
could go to school with the big kids. He handled it well, and was
thankfully distracted and excited by the time we reached his teacher's
home about 7 minutes later!
I
dropped him off and picked him up three hours later. He chatted my ear
off the whole way home about all the fun and exciting things they did
and the new friends he met! Molly Jayne was especially happy when we
picked him up! She enjoyed the alone time without him at home, but it
was obvious she missed her closest playmate too!
He was pretty disappointed when he got
home. Zachary informed me that they are only going to learn how to count to
20 this year, and he already learned that last year. I already feel bad for his teacher next year!
Here's to a great year!!!
