By definition a blue moon is the second full moon to occur in a calendar month or it is used colloquially to mean "a rare event." (definition via Wikipedia) This year December 31st hosted a blue moon, what a great way to start the new year off! But in our home it had a double hit--- New Year's Day. You see Ohio State was playing the University of Oregon in the Rose Bowl that afternoon. As most of you know we are a Beaver (Oregon State) family but when it came time to choose sides in this game we become Duck fans for the day (this is the rare event). It really wasn't a hard choice, living in Ohio we just HAD to root for the other team. Ohio State fans are just too intense, it is unlike anything I have ever seen! And remember I lived in the heart of the SEC, where football is a VERY serious matter----they have nothing on Ohio fans. Since out good friends and neighbors the Booth family has ties to Oregon we thought it would be fun to go out to dinner during the big game donning some homeland pride! The Heatons joined us in our efforts to put some Buckeye fans in their place and joined us at dinner as well. Sadly to report the final score was 26-17, the Buckeyes won.
