Kirtland trip

The weekend after the 4th, we decided to take a trip up north to the Amish country and Kirtland. This was only a semi-planned trip, meaning we had not done enough research prior to our departure to ensure that we would see or do everything we wanted to. Oh well, that just means that we get to plan another weekend away!
We had lunch in Berlin, Ohio in the heart of Amish country (and yes, it's really called Amish COUNTRY-you can google it) ;)When we arrived in Kirtland, the visitor center to the Temple wasn't open yet, so we headed to a nearby Metro-Park farm. Zach slept most of the time so he doesn't know that he touched his first cow and horse that day. We didn't know that our church also had a visitors center-we totally missed that part of Kirtland. The beautiful temple! We were able to take one of the afternoon tours and it was very interesting to hear all the history behind all the architecture. A LOT of hard work went into creating such a beautiful place to worship. Then, just because we were so close to a Great Lake, we had to a least sneak a peek! We weren't able to actually touch it at the park we found, but we did get a nice view!!!! Now my mom can say she has seen Lake Erie! For it being Zach's first road trip, he did pretty dang good! The ride home was much better than the ride up. He loved it when we were able to take some breaks and get out of the car! Just like his daddy, he loves the fresh air!

Great pics! The LDS church site in Kirtland is really neat! We enjoyed it. The good news is that it's a fairly quick trip, right? All for another day...
