It was a cool morning after an incredible storm hit the valley the evening before. It was breezy and the ground was still damp trying to absorb all the rain that poured down less than 12 hours earlier. We all arrived before the sun was up, watching a beautiful lightning show dance across the lake that we were planning on running to. We all knew the only thing that would delay/postpone our run would be a lightning storm. But in reality, I don't think any of us were too concerned about the weather...we were all focused on one thing- running/walking/cheering and we were all there to represent Team Beck.
Some of us were new to running. Some of us were experienced marathoners. Some of us love running and others hate running and never thought they would run a half marathon! I have a feeling that when Nicole tossed the idea out there to run a race in memory of Alyn, she thought she would get a handful of people....Well, there were more than a few of us running as part of Team Beck that morning. People of all ages, from various states running together, cheering and encouraging each other along the way knowing that Alyn would have been doing that for each and everyone of us if he could.
Team Beck dominated the race with participants and several winning times! It was such a blessing to be a part of the first Team Beck race! You know it's going to be a race to remember when you cross the finish line and there are LDS Missionaries handing out the finishers medals ;)
