And so it begins...Life as a military child

Back in September we shared a few photos and the news about Zach's first day of school well now we are here to talk about his last day. We are moving so he won't be going back after the Christmas Holiday. Funny thing is, I didn't shed a tear on his first day like most Moms but today I teared up a good 5 times!!! Two of those were before we even got to school! Zach has never had an issue with me dropping him off, however today I went in and took a few photos of him with his teachers and I had to leave with him sobbing, asking me to stay (he knows something is going on). But, normally as soon as we open the door to the school he is running down the hall with Brody to the classroom. They both pull their coats off as fast as they can so they can start playing immediately! On several occasions the boys have walked right in and the teachers don't even see them until they see me signing them in. Zach has LOVED going to school!

On the second day of school we started carpooling with Brody, who lives just a few houses up the street. The boys were at school the same days and they both have little sisters at home who appreciate not having to be hauled along to preschool twice a day! So each morning we "go up the hill" to Brody's and Zach comes home with "Miss" Kyndee. It has been great for Kyndee and I but most importantly the boys LOVE riding together! Its an absolute hoot, listening to their conversations in the car each morning! Without fail Zach asks every night if he gets to go to school with Brody in the morning, it just breaks my heart on the 4 nights a week I have to say no. Thankfully we have been able to spend time with Brody outside of school, this was a huge help while Josh was gone TDY!!!! Honestly it helped keep me sane. The boys play so well together, it was great having Brody down to play or being able to drop Zach off for a bit and get things done (pack) while Molly napped.

Zach is really going to miss his buddy Brody!
Not only has Zach made great friends but he has had amazing teachers! These three gentle souls take on a room full of loud, rambunctious, energetic, eager, little minds everyday! Bless their hearts, because I could never take on their job! One of the reasons we choose this particular program was because its not just a "mothers day out" they have a true Christian base curriculum. At the beginning of the year we were given the theme of the week for the entire school year! Its been such a great tool as parent to know what they are focusing on at school so we can work on it at home as well. And the art projects he has brought home, they are great. We're not talking about your standard painting or coloring 9Although there have been a few of those too) but there has also been...hand painted wooden pumpkins, a burlap Indian vest, rainmaker, pine cone trees and turkey, cd spiders, a pillow and plaque for our Christmas gift and the most treasured of all---the memory book! Parents had told me about these memory books that the kids get sent home with at the the end of the year and with all the craziness of our move next week I had forgotten all about it until yesterday. This morning "Miss" Willie asked me if I wanted to take it home or if they could send it home with him because there was one more thing they were going to add to it today. Thankfully, I had her send it home after school because I would have cried all morning if she would have sent it home with me!

This really is a very special program and we are going to miss being a part of it!
