We are DONE!
Oh, happy happy day!
On Friday September 9, 2011 Josh was given his silver wings! That's right he is now "officially" a pilot in the United States Air Force! Graduation day is full of traditions and protocol (i.e. lots of speeches by "high ranking officers"). Our morning started out with a breakfast and Wing Commanders' welcome at the Officers Club. Followed by the actually graduation ceremony, where the wing commander spoke for a second time and there was a guest speaker, each pilot was brought up on stage, given their wings, handed their certificate and at the end they all gathered up front for the traditional "breaking of the wings." We topped the day off with dinner and program that evening. It was a great day to celebrate and honor all of Josh's accomplishments in the last year.
Its been a little over a month since the big day and one of the only details I remember was a quote from General Ayyar, "in years down the road you will not remember who or what was even said at your graduation, so I don't know why I am so worried about what to say."
We are DONE! We are really, really DONE!!!!
